regarding the compression..

i got a set of NOS standard bore Speedpro Forged 428 pistons.
they have a dish machined into the center of the piston.

did the 428 pistons come this way, or was there a forged lower compression version? none of the 400 or 455 pistons i've ever seen had this.

it is in addition to the 4 valve relieves. its a circle cut in the center of the piston about 2 inches in diameter and about .100 deep.

any thoughts?

thanks

Aaron

That is the standard 428 style pistons. They were all dished from Pontiac. What you could do is open up the chambers some, around the inake valve going toward the spark plug. You really are just laying back the chamber wall, but not too much. On the other side of the chamber from the spark plug, you could also take a slight amount out the lentgh of the chamber. If you've never done this, It would be better to let someone with proven experience too do it. I love the idea of a 4 door sleeper. You are going to have some fun !!

can anyone tell me what the actuall compression would be with a 428 and the 670 heads...

assuming stock chambers and stock gaskets?

i know that thicker head gaskets are available as well so i'll certainly check into that.

any help?

Thanks
