Same msg posted in the street also. I have a 1967 400 with 670 heads that i will be installing into my 1968 lemans. I was wondering what year tranys i can use because i do not want to use the original 2 speed that was behind the stock 350 engine. I will be using a 350 trans and do not want to buy the wrong one.
also was wondering about the motor mounts are they they same? Also want to upgrade the exhaust and was wondering what headers would work best for the bucks?

THANKS IN ADVANTCE

You'll need a short tailshaft tranny. Really should have a 400turbo, a la GTO, but a 350 will work fine. You'll have to set up your linkage tooperate the detent onthe 350. The two speeds, I believe, utilize an electronic kick-down, similar to the 400 turbo. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Find a Buick, Olds, or Pontiac 350 that is the same length as your 2 speed. If you are not rebuilding the trans stay away from one that was connected to a 6 cylinder. You can either adapt factory brackets to connect the detent cable or buy aftermarket brackets. Like jegstek said though the 400 is stronger.
