Trying to get a answer on the head/motor year and head CC size. Thanks for any help.

Here is all the info I could get. Block #481988 On the back of the block it looks like G054 and on the front pad 24?286248 and stamped up by the head is YL. It has 400 by the freeze plug.
This is a remanufactored motor and has a tag on it that says that with the #238361.

The heads on the outside have just below the valve cover has DN 36 J167 on one and DN 36 J137 on the other. It appears but not sure is a 17 in the middle exhaust ports..
Are there numbers under the valve covers by the rockers I need to check? What CC are these?

The car is a 68 GTO 4 speed black interior bucket seats. the body tag has
12D
ST 68-24237 FRA 42632 Body
TR 223 EE paint

The dash plate has 242378 G 118138

Can someone tell me what I have?
Thanks Neil in Tenn

Block is a 1974 400/200hp

The heads came off a 1968 2bbl 350 and are most likely small valve non high performance heads.

YOu don't have anything special and not really worth putting any money into.

The last time I was at D&D junkyard I found a 455 in a '70 TA. The motor was no good but it had a set of 4X heads on it, don't remember what year they were. There was also a complete 400 with 6X heads, don't remember what year it was either. Either would be an improvement flow wise over what you have. Plus they are cheap! The heads you have made 9.2:1 on a 350, so they obviously make more on the 400. 4X or 6X heads will make anywhere from 7.6:1 and up depending on the dash number of the head and what size engine they originally came from. And of course you can mill them. I know a guy who may have some other heads also. Give me a call if you want more info. 503-1594
