I've always used the cast coating sold by Eastwood Company. Follow the directions and you'll have no complaints.

Me too. After a bath with brake clean I put them in the oven at 200 before I painted them.

I could be remembering wrong- I thought that when I talked to Jet-Hot a few years ago, they could do cast iron parts.
I've also been quite happy with Eastwood's stainless-steel paint on exhaust parts.

For those interested, I just called Jet Hot for a quote to have a set coated. $215 for the pair.

I had mine done last Sept. The basic price was $195 plus an additional $20 to coat the inside. At that time they offered a 10% "internet" discount which put the price at $193.50 plus $25 shipping back to me. $218.50 total. They have had about 1500 miles on them since then and look just like they did the day I put them on. I pulled the engine down earlier this year and had the heads worked and noticed at that time that there was vitually no exhaust build-up on the coating inside the manifolds. Underhood temps are noticeably cooler also.

I just picked up a set of R.A.R.E. manifolds for my T/A and had them coated. It cost an extra $200, but they look good. We'll see how the coating lasts once they are on the engine.
Anybody know where I can get the studs where the downpipes meet the manifold? I bought the installation kit, but it came with only bolts, no studs.

I think most of the catalog companies carrie the studs. I believe I got a stainless steel set from Year One. Check around though, I don't think they're that uncommon. Also, I think I Ram Air has them as well.
You may also want to consider getting the bolt locks that prevent the manifold to head bolts from backing out once they're crimped. |

I need the studs that go where I drew the circles.

I purcahsed a set of the studs to bolt up the head pipe to the flange from our sponsor. Folks at R.A.R.E. told me that the pipes were connected using bolts in Ram Air cars. Is this correct? Every set of used RA manifolds I see has studs (usually a broken one).

Just the studs, the manifolds are RARE ceramic coated.

I painted my "log" mainfolds in 1991 with Eastwood gray manifold paint following the instructions to brush on not spray it on and heat it afterward. They still look new laying on my garage floor today. I replaced them with 67 HO Manifolds earlier this year and used Eastwood on the new R.A.R.E. manifolds.
A buddy of mine sprayed his manifolds with Eastwood last year and they are already flaking and showing some rust spots. Proper application and heating them afterwards is the key. I also like the cost!!!! JMHO... Jim
