Tiki on th eback of the new 2005 rulebook it has the new 11.50 rollbar but in the 10.00-10.99 it has a Y 135 for rollcage. I thought cage was 9.99 or faster? Rule change or am I wrong for needing a cage in the 10s? Or is it just if over 135mph? Seems strange to only need a bar from 11.50-10.99 and then need a cage.

9.99 or 135 MPH you need a cage. That part of the rule has not changed from last year.

They might be refering that a cage is required if the firewall has been modified, replaced etc. then a cage is required.

The reason for the MPH rules are the "Bracket Cars & dragsters" that can run 180 mph at 10.99

Oh yea, don't ya just love those mid track slow down gimicks.

That's what Drag Racing is all about.
Leave like Hell....... then slow your car down......... then run like Hell again.

Ban throttle stops and delay boxes. Let the posts begin. LOL.

Ditto P-Dude!! And don't forget to eliminate the crossovers too. My car is just about fast enough to jump up a class where I usually race and I won't just for that reason.

I went to Bradenton, Florida one week-end for a 8.90 rail bracket race that paid well.

Over a 1000 rails showed up from all over the South Eastern, USA and all could run the number.

Every one "left hard", "dicked around" and then "ran out the door". It was purely a case of who was the lucky guy that day. Boy, was that a let-down week-end.

Not to hijack the post, but I agree on banning the throttle stops and electronics. Everyone barks about the consistency it brings, but it takes the driver right out of the equation...which to 'Dudes point, is what drag racing is all about.

Throw air shifters on the list of things to ban as well.....

Y 135 means yes, if you are on the quick reference chart. If your running 10.s at over 135 you need the cage, halving the floorpan, or cutting too much on the firewall. Otherwise rollbar permitted.

I'll add to the list - weather stations and other ET "predictors".

I disagree on the weather station.

It's not attached to the vehicle and does not alter in any way how the vehicle performs downtrack. It's just another tool.

hearing a throttle stop car run is about the most ridiculous thing ever! Leave like a flash of lightning and then "shut" the thing off for half the run- what kind of fun can that be for a driver? I would definitely rather run it out the back door as fast as it will go!!!!

If we're going to ban air shifters, delay boxes and the like, what about trans brakes? I personally won't give up either my T-brake nor my delay. I'll just race at the outlaw tracks if such comes to pass. Now, throttle stops should be something that the tracks decide on, because throttle stop cars are not crowd pleasers!

I do not have a huge beef with trans brake/delay boxes, and feel it is a personal prefrence kind of deal.I like to strive to perfect this art on my own skills and not some electronic gizmo. If that means seperate classes or getting beat up on so be it.Throttle stops and air shifters, well they can go to hell IMO.
