Quick question. I was picking up a can of an "almost chrome" product at my local body/paint supply shop and talked to someone who suggested using a 3M metal body repair tape. It's a flexible thin tape that has shiny metal on one side and adhesive on the other. What do you think about just lining the inside with this stuff?

Also, the "chrome" paint I got didn't have a max temp spec listed. Any harm in using "standard" stuf like this for inside the lens?

Thanks!
Mark

I used the "almost" chrome paint to refinish the inside of my tail lamp reflectors. The body tape would work good on a flat surface but too many wrinkles on a curved surface.

Eastwood sells a reflective aluminum paint just for lenses. I used it on my car, it is brighter than almost chrome.

I used Alclad II paint on my dash. I believe that it is the closes thing to chrome. They sell it at Hobbly stores. Works great on plastic I'm not sure about metal application. The key is a nice smooth gloss black finish to apply the chrome over. Check out the link.alclad II

Did you use a gloss black enamel under the Alclad II? Any other prep? Did you have to polish it after it dried?

I'll try and get some pictures done by tonight or tomorrow sometime.
I sanding down to the plastic. Painted gloss black Lacquer. No polishing. The key is to get the surface very smooth before the black gloss lacquer is applied. I used 800 grit. You could go finer.
Pics later...
