I used this paint that Summit carries called VHT cast aluminum. It is a high heat paint that I used to paint the hubs of my rotors and my calipers. I looks just like cast aluminum when you are done and it looks like it actually has flakes of aluminum in it when you are spraying it. I got mine from Advance Auto.

yes, you can use a dull aluminum from Krylon. It looks about the same. Also, you can get Alumablast from places other than Eastwood; and for a more reasonable price. Check out flea markets in your area. Someone there usualkly sells it. Or even restoration parts businesses.

Plasticoat brand spray paint, available at most part stores, has an Aluminum cast paint.

I used it on my alternator and was really pleased with the results. Can't tell it is really painted...

Plasticoat makes a "Dull Aluminum" that is identical to Eastwood's Alumi-Blast. Their cast aluminum color is too shiny. You will find it at Autozone.

When using paint to replicate unfinished metal, regardless of the manufacturer, you need to pay attention to how you're doing it. In most cases, several light mist coats will give the desired results. I've compared my Plasticoat (actually Plasti-kote) painted alternator to a new factor cast one and its a dead-on match.
