IF your looking for a new body shell and want it to look correct for a '76 I think your limited to 74 to 76 body shells. 73 had a different rear window and the rear quarter was different. I think the quarter is slightly different on the 77 and up models as well. One thing I'm not sure of is if the rear tail panel is the same from 74 to 76. There are plenty of 76s out there, they made over 100k of them in 76. Look for a nice firebird or formula for a good donor car. BTW kudos to you for trying to bring a 50th back!!!

74 won't work either.Back window like 70-73's.

Depending on how bad the rust is and where it is,why don't you put new panels on? Then the VIN stays with the original car.
