Has anyone tried any of the repro rear bumpers for the 69 Firebird? How bad are they? Who has the best fit?

I got one from Year One years ago and the fit was HORRIBLE! and the chrome was okay at best. It would be best to rechrome an original.

I concurr. I got one from Classic Industries and it did not fit well. Rechrome an old one and you won't regret it and it will last much longer. Most of all it will fit!!!

I got a 68' repro and the fit was horrible as well.Chrome was driver worthy but i wish i didn't get rid of my original and used it for a core.A few more $ on top of the repo and i would have had a perfect fit and show chrome plus better durability.I'm going to get rid of my repop and go back to original.Find a good core for you 69' and spend the extra $ to have it rechromed,if that means waiting a little longer to save the extra dollars to do it,my advice is to wait till you can do it.Because of the poor fit i ended up scratching my paint job trying to fit it to the car and it still isn't a good fit. Some repop parts are better than others and bumpers seem to be one of the bad ones. They can get you by for now but in the long run you would be much happier rechroming an original.Remember, there is a reason why they are lower in price. My two cents.

Thanks to everyone for your replies, it's greatly appreciated. Does anyone know if Tamrazs' bumpers are of the same poor quality and fit as the others mentioned? I see that Classic Industries say that their bumpers will look and fit exactly as originals, so much for truth in advertising huh!!!

Just went through the same saga , I compared the Repro, from Ames and PY ,$ 150 not bad but was thinner and chrome was wavey. Also heard you have to work with it to get it on. While in Carlise i found a Rechrome from Bumper Boyz. Took a chance for $280 w/o trade in $240 with. I removed all my brackets cleaned and painted them and bumper went on great. Bumper was thicker and had more of a luster plus , its an original. Now to trade my bumper in. Good Luck

I got my rear bumper from Tamrazs' they are 15 minutes away from me.. The bumper is ok not as nice as a original but it looks good for a driver or cruise night car. if you want a show car go original .. they prob. get them from the same people..

Did the Tamraz bumper bolt up good or did you have to bend things around? Sounds like the Bumper Boyz might be an option also.

Here is the driver's side. not ethe little "wow" just below the bracket mounting points. There are no creases or tears that I can see. Thsi would seem to be related to the down turn shown in the previous picture. The top edge looks very straight...surprisingly
