What would it take to do this and would it be worth it? I have a 400 right now, and am already planning on boring it over .030". What all would need to be done to make it a 455? even bigger bore? I just think it would be kinda cool to have a 455 Le Mans

67GTclOne, It will take about $2500.00 It is the prefered method of building a 455. What your asking about is stroking your 400. There are crank, rod, piston kits out there that will get you what you want. Or,you can put a 455 crank in your 400 by machining the main journals down to 3" and offset grind the rod journals to accept a BB Chebby rod. Check out summit or Pontiac dudes site. They can set you up.

And here's the link to the 455/400 crank assembly special that you can use with your rods and just buy the cast or forged 455 std bore pistons (bore your 400 block .030) and your ready to go.

Plus ya show your friends the code on the side and say. hey it's ONLY a stock 400 with an RV cam.

another question...would I still be able to use the same harmonic balancer or would I have to get a new one?

Same one will work. But I think you should go to the 68+ timing cover & balancer if you haven't already done so.

with out questions there can be no answers
