I recently bought a 67 GP with a recently rebuilt engine. It is not original and in fact is a WA 400 265hp 2 bbl with less than 15 miles on it. Ok
Having been a stickler for original parts for my other cars I have decided to screw that and just build up what I have. I am looking for a decent but not expensive 4 bbl carb and intake set-up and also the possibility of electronic ignition. I am looking for 325 to 350 hp which is what this cars original engine had put out. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks |

Are you thinking QuadraJet or the original AFB setup?

I would look for a 68-70 Q-jet manifold from any V8.

I would agree that an early Q-jet iron intake, Q-jet carb, and probably a cam upgrade would be an effective and affordable way to improve your 2bbl 400. I have an 068 equiv. cam in my 4bbl 400 in my covertible, and it is quite "snappy". It easily roasts tires with my 2.93 rear.
For the electronic ignition, try a pertronix kit, or do the full monty and get Dave to do a small body HEI conversion on your distributor. Dave' small body HEIs

Thanks for the info, I believe Bob Vidan can set me up with a cast iron intake and CarbKing with a carb. I will look into pertronix. What a great board.
