I noticed when I bought my 65 catalina that the front stabilizer bar rubs just behind the harmonic balancer. Theres no space and seems to br pressed against the balancer pretty good. When I drive I do not notice any sounds or anything out of the ordinary other than the way it looks. Sometimes it doesn't even touch at all and is about 1/2 inch away from the bar. Now is this the sign of a bad bar or maybe the wrong one? Its a straight bar with no bends going across from one side to another. Could it be caused from worn or bad stabilizer bar bushings, because they are pretty worn? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Will

The motor mounts are brand new I just installed them 6 months ago. What else could it be? Could it be a wrong stabilizer bar installed?

the reason that i mentioned the motor mounts is that your engine should sit higher than that. should be at least an inch of clearance there. have you looked at the tranny mount. doesn't seem likely but maybe the mount is broken , which is pushing the rear of the tranny up toward the tunnel. this would cause the engine to tip forward and down.
