I bought a new set of splash shields only to get a set of staples with it. How do you staple these to the fenders through the metal? Does some kind of high powered staple gun work?

Check real carefully on your inner fenders. You should have some holes already there. With some creativity, you can put the sheilds back in the same place.

Remove all the old staples. Take a pair of needle nose vice grips. Lock a staple into them. Now get a propane torch and heat up the staple. Poke the hot staple thru the shield. Slide a cool staple up thru the fender and the rubber shield and fold over. You might have to clip the new staple down a little. Sometimes they are a little long. Stand back and drink a beer, admire your handy work.
