Default Wix fuel filters are good quality filters.

Paper filters are the best, but they are still affected by moisture in the fuel.

When a car sits for a long period of time, with very little fuel in the tank, you get condensation on the inside of the tank that ends up in the fuel system and eventually works its' way up to the filter. That moisture will change the paper filters over time so that they flow less fuel through them.

That may be what happened to yours. We make it a habit to change out the fuel filter every couple years when we do oil changes. It just takes them out of the equation for a future side-of-the-road problem.

Glad you figured it out!
