Just saying.

Tom,

Would it make more sense to all if I quoted “McCarty/BES Racing Engines/IndyCartel 535 EFI RA-V Twin 88M Turbo Rebuild”? This was a supposed to be a package deal, right? The engine has already rebuilt once and now the entire McCarty top end is being replaced. I don’t believe the statement above references any specific turbo brand. You’re right I haven’t run the 88mm turbos I have on any engine yet. I would have really liked to have had the “original” combination dyno tested and tuned with the turbos and Holley dominator EFI before it was shipped to me. I believe you are well aware of the backstory regarding why this wasn’t done. Changing my signature to “Twin 88M Turbo INSTALLATION Redo” would indicate I installed the turbos, which to date I haven't.

On a positive note, the new DCI Motorsports RA-V top is coming along great.

Here are pic's of Ed Pages heads. In his thread are the flow numbers for his heads. You may have notice we softened the combustion chambers up a little for the turbo's. Porting is done, guides are sized. Now all I have to do is mill the deck to get the combustion chamber size we need and o ring them for the copper head gaskets. Then I can clean and assemble.

Thanks Mike. Your venture is looking good too!!!!! How much have driven your 5 engine and how's the torque curve? What rear gear do you run?

Hey Don -

I took the car out about 3 weeks ago and gave a friend an oh Sh*t ride. Driving down the blvd. grabbing 3rd gear with my foot buried, a cop was going in the opposite direction stuck in traffic. Needless to say, I kept my foot there and proceeded to run for cover in a maze of sub-divisions. Lucky I got away.

The car is not running all that great as the gaskets on the bowls and
accelerator pump is spitting out fuel. The throttle shaft is also shot at this point and in need of being bushed. Damn thing sits more then I drive it, so she needs some more love and money as usual.

I've never had the chance to dyno the car at this point. Maybe some day soon hopefully, but there are so many irons in the fire at this point.

I'm running a 3.08 rear end with an old school Doug Nash 5 speed. First gear just roasts the tires beyond belief.

What wheel is that?

Do you expect to have the car done this year? I would love to come up to NED to see it run

Hey Ed,

They are Mickey Thompson Pro 5 ET Drag. We do have a bit of work left to do, but I expect the car to be done and out at the track this year. We should be swapping out the top end soon, Don's almost finished with the heads and Mark "Luhn Performance" is working on the intake.

Just finished dry decking Ed's DCI RA5 heads. Next is milling them to get the desired combustion chamber volume and O-ringing them. With the thick deck I designed into my heads. It sure makes this procedure allot easier than some I have done in the past. Most heads have thinner decks and you cannot just drill and tap them, they need welded.

Very nice feature and would allow sizing the plugs for coolant flow on a street application.

Good Job Don!

Decided to go with a Precision Performance Products shifter over the Cheetah Turbo Action. Both are quality pieces, but after trying out both, I preferred the feel of the PPP shifter.

Very nice shifter - I have one in the GTO -- the safe neutral in front of 3d is nice when your racing

Man that deck is thick!! Looks like over .750. That will do more to keep the head gaskets on the engine than you can believe. The extra clamp load it provides is fantastic and necessary with the turbos. That's putting a little extra weight where it is desperately needed. Also love the wheels. This is going to be a special effort, high quality car. Looking forward to seeing it on the track.
