The way the cars are it should be called copy cars instead of nascar, or xerox car because there are NO cars that are made that run the engines or drivetrain that are made by any auto mgf.

Kenseth has reached Days Of Thunder style baller status in my book.
Its nice seeing little beef being handled on the track, and not just wars of words through social media like little school girls. I just hope the fallout for Kenseth isn't too harsh.

Because fans are cheering, doesn't make it right in anyone's book, especially NASCARS's, Dollar General, Toyota, or JGR. I'm not a Kenseth fan or a Lagano fan, so I really have no interest of what happens from here on out for either of them. What Kenseth did is going to affect him in the future without a doubt. Was it worth all the money it's going to cost him? At least $50,000 fine is coming plus sponsor pressure, Nascar sanctions, maybe losing his ride, who knows how far the ramifications are going to go from this. Kenseth says Lagano needs to grow up, I think he needs to look in the mirror. After pulling the same stunt in trucks Kyle Busch really did a bunch of damage control as well as did Joe Gibbs Racing. Mars Candy just about pulled their sponsorship and Kyle's job would have been gone if Mars had left. Drivers need to think about how retaliation is going to have effects on their future before they pull some stupid crap like Kenseth did. There is no justification for the damage done as opposed to any benefit Kenseth thinks he gained, because all he did is lose much, and gained nothing. |

That's how they can keep the stands filled. Look at that crowd.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...ille/75009000/ As usual, Joey can't listen to his team nor spotter. Start listening at 2:21.

Maybe if today's NASCAR was like the real "stock car" racing of the 60's and 70's where the cars appearance and engine were based of that of the regular production model's, more car guys would follow it. I've yet to walk into a Ford or Toyota dealership and see a V8, rear wheel drive, Focus or Camry, and while the production SS does have a V8 and RWD, it still has nothing in common with the ones used in NASCAR. With that being said, the term "Wins on Sunday, Sells on Monday", no longer applies to NASCAR.
I could only imagine how fun it was to be a NASCAR driver or fan in the early 60's when cars, like the Super Duty Catalinas, were very similar to those sold to the public! Is it just me, or is it a coincidence that G.M. shut down factory backed racing shortly after a little Super Duty Lemans lapped the mystery 427 Vettes many times in early '63 Put the "stock" back in Stock Car racing! |

Well, NASCAR got what they wanted once again! A big fight, again using the cars as weapons and nobody gets hurt. Did everyone miss the duke out between Danica & Gilliland? Same deal, no impact on chase players but same exact deal and not a word gets spoken.
I doubt the real shoppers of Dollar General will be boycotting the store for what Matt did yesterday - maybe some uptight soccer moms but not the real shoppers. In fact if they had plastic models of the cars on the shelves I bet they would be out of stock today! Yes something needs to be done to Matt but Joey had it coming. I've always found Matt to be one of the most soft spoken, level headed drivers out there but he spoke loudly yesterday and I for one will admit I stood up in my family room & cheered! "Sometimes you're the bat, sometimes you're the ball." Best line delivered all day in any sports interview, hands down!

My wife and I were watching together and couldn't believe that Joey didn't have the common sense to make a clean pass because of the history between him and Kenseth. On a side note... What is NASCAR going to do about Lagano and Keselowski playing games on the restarts? What is NASCAR going to do about the games being played coming off pit road attempting to be an odd numbers car? Time to go back to the old restart rule? Lead lap cars on the inside and lapped cars on the outside? |

Gotta think that Jeff Gordon is pretty happy about all the kids fighting and crashing each other while he grabs another win.

The fans go wild because the Dale Jr fans believe Logano knocked their hero out of the chase. Remember all the Jr fans pelting Logano with beer cans after his win?
They're happy because they feel JL knocked Jr out of the chase and what Kenseth did vindicated their hero. If you've never been at a NASCAR race in person, when Jr gets the lead the stands go wild. By the same token when he loses the lead they all collectively sigh. I've never been able to hear it very well on TV, but if your there in person you can't miss it. These are the same people that were cheering Kenseth after he wrecked Logano, they aren't Kenseth fans, they're Jr fans. The field was under yellow or red so it wasn't being drowned out by the cars is why it was so loud. Same group of people that have made death threats to Sterling Marlin when Dale Sr was killed in 2001. Since then there have been death threats to other drivers that either accidentally or intentionally have had on track encounters with Jr. You've heard announcers talk about "The Jr Nation" and it's real, and it's huge. Just an FYI, 71% of the fans polled today seem to think Kenseth's move was justified. Just 29% thought he was wrong, I'm going with the 29%. You'll notice that all the former race car drivers/commentators were livid about what Kenseth did, and felt there was NO justification in what he did to retaliate. Again, most people that have a connection with racing on the participation level feel it was dangerous and uncalled for. If the racing community was polled I'm sure the stats would be opposite of fan polls. |

Brad,I listened to Gordon and another former driver on NASCAR radio today and they both could understand how and why it happened.Gordon did do the same thing to the 15 car and got I believed a 100 K fine and loss of some points. No sit down.Tom

The touring princess is so inept she can't even retaliate at caution speed, let alone at race speed. Most times she misses her target, or wrecks her car much worse than who she's after.
One time Stewart told his spotter to have someone tell her to stop trying to wreck the other driver (may have been Sam Hornish) or he'd wreck her himself. Doesn't make any difference who is trying to use their car as a weapon, they should be parked. The short tracks around here will park you in a minute if you start trying to wreck another driver intentionally. One instance in late models this year I witnessed, they black flagged a driver, escorted him off of the premises and banned him from racing for the remainder of 2015, this was 3-4 weeks into the season. He'll have a good while to cool off and think about his actions at that track. |

Because fans are cheering, doesn't make it right in anyone's book, especially NASCARS's, Dollar General, Toyota, or JGR. No, it may not make it right but you have to remember just who pays the bills. THE FANS! And the 79% you speak of in your earlier post. And I disagree with you thinking that it's all JR's fans cheering against Logano. It's simply fans that don't like him. He's pulled some stuff the past couple of years that puts him on my not favorite driver list.

You store that info and when that guy needs a little room out there you close the spot right up and let the chips fall where they may. I remember Bowyer and Gordons confrontation, was probably 3-4 years ago and Gordon probably should have been parked, but in NASCARs infinite wisdom he wasn't. We'll find out tomorrow. |

But I wasn't a Sr. fan and am not a Jr. fan. If I had been at Martinsville on Sunday, I would have been one of the folks cheering after Logano failed to clear Kenseth, which led to Kenseth driving him straight into the wall. How arrogant and ignorant can Logano be? With his history with Kenseth, and knowing what his teammate had just done to Kenseth, why didn't he make sure he was fully clear before dropping down? He had one of the fastest cars - why not wait another second or two? His own spotter was on the radio telling him that he wasn't clear before and during the time that Joey initiates the contact. Matt had enough, and just kept driving. Quote:
I'm into equal opportunity - and NASCAR didn't treat the two incidents equally on Sunday. Today? We'll have to see. |
