Default 64 -65 vinyl top trim

This may not be the right spot to ask this, but I did a search and between time outs I didn't find an answer. I'm thinking of selling my vinyl top trim but have no idea what it's really worth. The last set on ebay went for $400 I was told. Is that what they are bringing now? Not sure if I should sell if they are that hard to find. It took me 4 years to find these and they are nice nice nice.
Also, is it stainless or aluminum, I can't tell for sure.

Any idea if they are stainless? I want to hit them with the buffer if they are.

They're aluminum for sure, don't try buffing them .

They are stainless steel. A friend sold his about 3 years ago for $250. They were mint. I would not polish them..leave that option to the new owner. They are, indeed, hard to find.

The ones on my '65 are aluminum I'm 100% positive, unless there are two styles or something.

I paid $250 for a decent set a year ago.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm not so sure I should sell them now, if they are that hard to find and worth as little as $250, I would have to pay $400 if I was ever to replace them. These feel kind of light for stainless but what do I know. I guess I could put them to the grinder and see if they spark! ... kidding.

Take a good magnet to them, it will stick to stainless but not to aluminum.

I picked up a set on here last year that needed minor work for $125. They are definitely anodized aluminum. What you sell for is up to you. There may or may not ever be reproductions.

I have one set for a '65 I plan to use them on. Mine are alum, not stainless.

On some of the lower end models, the windshield trim is also anodized aluminum. Maybe that caused you the confusion?

I have a set of anodized windshield trim I had never seen them before. The VT trim 64 / 5 sets I had were all stainless . Now the 66 / 7 are anodized aluminum but my 69 ( Firebird ) is stainless .
The VT cars I had were 65s Pontiac built .

After more checking these are aluminum. I'm thinking of setting up an anodizing tank anyway, if I do I may reanodize these, although they really don't need it unless you wanted an NOS look.

Try put them on ebay as auction, start them of at a price that you want and see what happens. You have nothing to lose!
