Question Looking for a '72 LeMans . . .

Must be clean, original and unmolested, with no rot of any significance. Floors and frame absolutely MUST be solid. Interior need not be perfect, but no rat's nests either.

Preferences:

Hardtop or post, no 'verts
Chrome nose (non-T41)
Prefer w/o cordova top
V8, auto trans
A/C
Bench seat, column shift
A/C
P/S and PDB

Prefer a running, driving car, but will consider all if unmolested. Might consider a roller if everything else is there and meets my criteria.

Dream deal would meet the above criteria and have a black interior.

Whatcha got?

A 455 D port would really be nice also. Also, can't be an HO car as then you have that really UGLY ENDURA NOSE on it. LOL

Nah, prolly gonna build a C.I. IA2 block and 400 CFM heads, forged crank, 535" (4.35" bore x 4.500" stroke), solid roller, TH400, 3.42 12-bolt, pump gas deal, similar to what P-Dude sells.

With A/C.

All stock appearing outside, full quiet exhaust with LeMans tailpipes, 15x8 steelies and poverty caps for the full stealth effect.

EDIT: I ordered my 3" main forged crankshaft from Frank @ AllPontiac this afternoon.

I've got a lemans sleeper for you, only it has the T41 and pewter interior. Too bad it's not what you're looking for.

OK Pat, you have gotten my interest.

However, I don't WANT another HO car for this deal, LOL!

Yep - I got a call from Dan McKinnon and Chris a little while ago. They found a nice T41 '72 GT, Lucy Blue with blue guts, 350 3 spd. w/ A/C. Tempting, except for the price and the M/T.

Thanks for the heads-up!

This sounds like it could be a fun high 10 second 125 MPH sleeper of a street car deal with a 500+ ci IAII block. Shoot for about 575 HP, 620 TQ, Put A/C in the danged thing too. Mini tub it and put 15x12 inch steel wheels (dog dishes) and wide MT drag radials, and put a tremec 5-speed TKO600 in it. Have fun with a stick shift, the TKO is a dream tranny, plus get pretty good mileage with the compound overdrive. Some guys I know with 500+ hp A bodies are getting 16 MPG on the freeway with this tranny and laying down easy 11's at the track.
Take it to Pavement Pounders, Power Tours, PITP
Life's short, do it now !

I don't think he sold it Lloyd - it had 71 blue buckets with the matching rear and a 4spd console, but he had the original benches for it. Had the original ralleys on it, original paint on them, looked great, correct sword stripe, super clean body, trunk & underside.

I've got his number if you change your mind, otherwise, I may pick it up.

Go for it, Chris.

I picked up a NICE Wilderness Green chrome-nose, bench seat '72 LeMans myself over the weekend.

Let us know if you buy that car, sounds real nice, but I really wanted a non-T41 car.

That's the one, been in Birmingham all it's life. Seller bought it from the widow of the original owner. Two small rust spots, one in the LF fender and one in the RR quarter panel, behind the wheel. Solid frame, floors, trunk, etc. Mostly original paint, needs a patch in the LF side of the front seat. Best of all - it's UNMOLESTED, hard to find these days, LOL! I thought the price was fair as well.

Say Chris, PM or e-mail me your e-mail addy when you have the chance. I thought I had it, but if I did I lost it.
