Default Accesory Wire Harness - 65 GTO

Is the accessory wire harness (2 brown wires to connector just above steering column) always hot or only when key is on?

My emergency brake telltale light was working now its not. I have confirmed the ebrake harness is good, the bulb is good and the ground at the brake is good which leaves a power issue. The ebrake harness was connected to the accessory harness but a test light shows no power there with key on or off. All the fuses loook ok.

Thanks
DV

Hi, if it's the 2 brown wires I am thinking of, that is key on "only" 12 volts battery +. (It may not even be fused.)

Can you post a photo of the 2 wires and the plastic plug-in end?

Hi Peter thanks for the reply. I met you I think back in 1988 at either the POCI Nationals in Downington or the GTOAA Nationals! I bought something off of you for my 72 GTO but I dont recall what, its been a while lol

I have attached a pic, I guess it would have to be switched otherwise the telltale light would be on constantly when ebrake is engaged. Still not sure why I am getting no power at the plug in now and did previously...

Small world, I am almost positive that brown wire(s) should be the accessory port plug-in for something that would require 12 volts "+" key on.

It either feeds directly off of the back of the key switch, that or the key switch feeds back to a tab on the back row of the fuse block and then it goes back out again, on from there.

I think the reason it is made as 2 wires joined together is the brown wire goes further onward wrapped into the dash harness, perhaps to feed the power supply tab on the back of your blower motor fan-speed switch?

That accessory feed connector has one to the heater switch and the other wire goes to fuse in the fuse box.

Is this the connector that should go to the e-brake light?
I would think that connector is hot when key on.

The ebrake was connected to it when I started investigating but I dont know if that is correct as the 65 wire diagram doesnt show the ebrake

I put a test light in the accessory wire harness connector but couldnt get anything with the key in either the ACC or On position.

Interesting you mention the blower motor fan as that isnt working either....

I'd check the fuse /contacts at the fuse box from that brown wire? Maybe be corroded or broken there? (if no 12 volts)

Please lets us know what you find, perhaps help others here on the forum. Maybe the fuse block is starting to come apart on the backside?
