Been running a 389 in my '65 GTO since 1987. (it had a 428 in it when I got it 5 years earlier). I built the motor in 1981 and it was in another car I sold. Running the stock 400 in my '67 GTO.
I used to want a 421, but now in my old age the 389/400 is fine and I like the small main journals and lack of rear main seal issues and bearing issues that are associated with the 3.25 journal blocks.
NOTHING sounds as cool as '421' though. Nothing.

I agree, there is something legendary about 421 isn't there? If I ever put the 428 into my 65 Tempest, these will go on the fenders, from our sponsor. Even though it's a 69 428 it's still a 4" motor.

Not much for Polls mostly 455 builds here.
multiple projects, several builds ongoing.

71 233's: 462 & 469 optimized Pure Stock 455 HO's
72's....464 HO build, also a 447 awaiting 400 block machining

W72 T/A's projects:
79 400 Pwh & 77 Y82 WA

Few years down the road.
301T, possibly a forged crank traditional head build.
original in my '80 SE, bought new, modded & sprayed in the 80's, never blew it up.

455 '73 ZZ code/ '73 BG T/A project...
yanked the 4X-1H's & have two pair of build date matching -7's awaiting vatting & magnaflux, street port work.

69 428HO GP... maybe.
'69-72 GP's are such nice driving cars, but values need to go up before can go righteous w the red car
