Default Decisions...Decisions

Judging by the amount of sediment that i have had to clean out of my inline fuel filter and the seats of my carb. I think that it is time to replace the gas tank and lines. Now here is where I am having a hard time deciding which route I want to take.

65 Lemans

Option 1: stock tank $107 + fuel sending unit $60= $167

Option 2: Summit fuel cell(sending unit included) $175 + mounting hardware ($35)= $210

The big kicker here is that my filler neck behind the license plate is very hard to get to I have to use a funnel and plastic tube to fill the tank. To replace the tank and still have this problem does not sit well with me. The thought of spending an extra $43 bucks to eliminate that pain in the butt is very intriguing.

Just curious if anyone else has crossed this road before.

I have; in my case I wanted to keep the original tank, so I flushed it out and coated it with the Bill Hirsch gas tank sealer.

It's been several years (10 maybe?) with no further issues.

I went with a stock replacement tank, it was just so cheap compared to getting my old one welded up where it was leaking. It fit almost 100% perfectly, but the filler neck did need a good tweaking up around 1" to get the fuel fill cap off.
