I have a 65 GTO with ralley gauges. My question concerns the temp. gauges. The motor is a 389,#77 heads. 11:0/1 comp. I use LL100 AV. gas. Once the engine comes up to temp. the needle on the temp. gauge will remain at the mark between 185 and 245. What temp.am I at. 200, 210, 220.I use a 160 t-stat. Thanks.

I'D BORROW AN AFTER MARKET GUAGE FROM SOMEONE TO SEE WHAT YOU'RE RUNNING. THEY ONLY TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO INSTALL AND THEN YOU'D KNOW FOR SURE. JUST MY 2 CENTS WORTH

Yep, a mechanical gauge is the best way to confirm your temp. Not that expensive last I checked.

I had a similar problem with my 64 GP with ralleys. I took it to a Good radiator shop.
He had me start up the car. While it ran up to temp he checked the coolent temp with a special thermometer( like the one they use to check food temp) When the thermostat opened and the coolent started to flow. He asked what temp my gauge was reading. It was at 200. My gauge was 40 off.
