I agree with the other guys. I don't see you coming out ahead by parting it out. Used motors usually bring half of what you invested in them unless they are something like a ram air III or IV, SD455 or 455HO. Even then the buyer is going to want to go through it himself. I don't think a body needing the quarter panels replaced is going to net much either. I think your best shot is at selling it as a running and driving car.

Why does no one want this car? It's brand new mechanically. All new drivetrain, complete front end rebuild, all new bushings, etc. Just needs quarters, the rest of the car is very solid.
No one has any number in mind at all for it? Everyone seems to know so much about these cars, yet no one is willing to even throw a low-ball offer on it. The Pontiac with absolutely zero resale value- a GT-37! Junk. |

I understand your frustration and I don’t think anyone here would lowball you as they know what the cost is to do what you’ve done. I will tell you that although not a GT, my LeMans just sold for about $3k less than I thought it was worth and it was completely done and upgraded similar to your drivetrain. I’m thinking the color combo and the fact that since it needs paint and body that’s an expense that is immediate to compete the car. Most can do the work you have already done but not paint and body so it’s a turn off. Of course this is just my opinion and you know what they say about that.
Hang in there, someone will come along.

I can't believe no one has made an offer on it either. It's not that no one wants it. I'd want it myself under different circumstances.
Personally, I like the color and like the way it looks pretty much as is.

I've had lots of interest in the car, none of which made any legitimate offers. I only get calls from older men that want to talk for hours, just to tell me they don't have enough space, time, or the financial ability to buy it.
The car is loaded with tons of very rare parts. I have everything to return it back to factory original specs, and it made over 500 ft lbs to the tires in current form, while tuning it on a dyno. 23k into it and no one will make ANY offer... |

AWESOME color combination. Should appeal to some who own 1970-1971-1972 Firebird Trans Ams. It just cries out for a new owner with the resources to give it forged rods and 197 heads and the necessary body-paint work. Seems to be somewhat rare with such a desirable color combination, and I could see it in a collection with a pair of white and blue early 1970s TA, and perhaps a color reversal twin, Lucerne blue with white stripe.

I have sold a lot of things in my day, but never have I been so annoyed by the sale of an item.
Every person that contacts me talks to me for countless hours. They ask for a million different pictures, and then act shocked that the car needs quarter panel replacement. The ad clearly states the car needs quarters. DO NOT CONTACT ME UNLESS YOU HAVE THE MEANS, AND ARE PREPARED TO MAKE A SERIOUS OFFER ON THE CAR. Getting close to pouring gas on it and burning it to the ground. That route is almost better than dealing with anymore old men that seemingly just want to waste my time. |

old men are your target audience....we drove the cars when they where new or near new..they where our dreams
understand, its Christmas time..money is short...etc..its gonna take a special person to spend money on a car thats NOT a GTO..absolute worst time of the year to sell a car....etc be patient..theres someone out there that loves those cars..part of selling this kind of car is dealing with old guys..
