1968 400 4-speed Convertible
Rare Nightshade Green, Ivy Gold deluxe interior, 54,700 miles. This is the most un-molested, un-modified, original 400 Firebird I have ever seen in over 40 years in the hobby. All numbers matching with the following PHS options: 400 engine, 4-speed, 3.31:1 safe-t-track, gage package, console, clock, AM-FM radio, rear antenna, power brakes, rally stripe, rally II wheels, whitewall radial tires. Correct Pontiac options added: hood tachometer, wood wheel, power steering, HO exhaust manifolds, chrome splitters. Runs and drives excellent, body fit is excellent, especially for a convertible. Was re-painted in original lacquer in 1980. Still in show quality. Price reduced 10K to sell. You will never find a better un-restored example. Now asking 37,500.00 Call 937-545-7032 for more pics and details.
Attached are some pics and the POCI ad that ran 1 month last year. |

Fantastic color. Never seen a 'bird in Nightshade and only a very few GTOs. Beautiful.

It is an unusual color. Honestly, I doubt it would be most peoples first choice. Less than 2% of all Firebirds were Nightshade Green. As rare as it is this is the second car I have owned this color! I had a 2 door 68 Ventura this color with a factory hood tach, console and 400 4bbl. This color on a Firebird actually looks kind of modern. It changes hues in different light. I have owned the car 11 years but continuing financial issues would be eased by selling it. It would be a great car for the kind of person who doesn't want to get into a restoration, but if 10 or 15 years down the line decides to, they would have the potential for one of the best there is when finished. Right now, the car just drives great. Drove it from Dayton to Atlanta area for a Year 1 show. You just get in and go.

Sorry to nitpick but is that 3.31 supposed to be 3.36?

Nit pick away, I can take it. I don't know that answer. But I will scan and post the body broadcast sheet which I have and I have the PHS. I am just not sure on the ratio now that you mentioned it. I will verify.

You are right, The axle ratio is 3.36:1. I am going to post some of the PHS, the window sticker and the body broadcast sheet now. There is just too much stuff to post it all. I have what I believe is EVERY bit of factory and PHS documentation for the car EXCEPT the Protecto-plate. I did not get the original with the car and did not pursue. Window sticker is from PHS but I have the original bill of sale from Pontiac to the dealer. It sort of looks like a window sticker, but not exactly. I can't get the other files to upload, they are over the size limit for jpeg. Sorry. I don't know how to fix that, not computer savy enough.

I had to scan these to resize them. I don't know how to resize a pdf file. In the process, the highlights on the PHS are kind of washed out to a slightly pinkish hue. I think you can still make them out though.

Thank you very much posting these for me. I really appreciate it. If I can provide anymore detail for anyone, let me know. Not as rare as the Ram Air III 69 above, but at less than half the price and still very unique.

If this is the car that was at a vendor's booth at Norwalk a few years ago and I spoke with the owner (beard?) then this is one heck of a car! A beauty ... I asked him if he was interested in selling and at the time the answer was "no" ...
If I was in the market for another car I would purchase this in a heartbeat ...

That was most likely me. I shaved my beard for a job interview 35 years ago and that's the last time. I still have mixed feelings about selling it but my wife has a medical condition that may require substantial money from me to manage. Especially with this Obamacare mess, their is so much unknown, I feel I should have some money in the bank. I looked for 12 years before buying this car. Thanks for the interest.
