I had a set of these on my Red car and could not have been happier. Ran 17x8 front and 17x9 rear. Car was nicely lowered with Hotchkis springs and it jus ‘made’ the look. I love the fact that these wheels are so close to the original styling that they practically ‘hide in plain sight.’ They don’t scream at you like some aftermarket wheels do. First time I saw a set was the Ford Boss style Year One rims on a 70 fastback Mustang at a car show. I found myself walking around the car wondering why the stance looks so good before realizing the rims were 17’

Im on the fence between rally and honeycomb.rallys would be easier to keep shiny and they have 8 or 9 inch

Here’s the thread I started when I put them on my car a couple years ago. 17x8 up front, 17x9 in the rear with Nitto 555s. Good quality wheel, but they’re heavy. https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...=841228&page=3

Njsteve put them on his ‘75 Firebird a few years ago too:

US Mag 17 x 8 U109's on my 71. Good quality rim, a bit less expensive than YO's Rally 2's

Because they are a big chunk of aluminum.

Are the rallys hubcentric or lugcentric when ballancing?

There's been a debate over that, but from all I've seen & read, lug centric.

I would guess honeys, but don't have that data.

Pretty sure in the Bandit wheel thread I weighed one, so that's available. Might be able to get the info from manufacturers, maybe search it?

Are you drag racing or autocrossing? If not, would think weight isn't a big concern.

If you want 'light' wheels, you're going to have to cough up some serious coin. Forged are probably the strongest and lightest wheels out there, that are practical, anyway.

According to the US Wheel website (mfg for the wheels), the Rally IIs weigh 27 and 30 lbs (17x8, 17x9 respectively) and the Honeycombs weigh between 30-32 lbs.

The 17” honeycombs are just painted and very easy to keep clean. Wasn’t sure if you were talking about original or aftermarket honeycombs

In drag radials they make a 28" tall MT which is what most drag racers shoot for, that's why they are available.
My issue with 17's is they don't make a regular street tire to suit me, they are all too short.

I can't look at the moment but if worried about more drag tire choices Nitto used to make all kinds of sizes and always had more choices than other brands when it came to these big wheels. Problem became that Nitto wasn't really the best choice for drag tires when it came to on track performance so not sure what they may still offer these days. They aren't really the tire of choice at the drag strip.

I see a number of Hoosier, M&H DRs in the 15, 16, 17, and 18 sizes.

Street tire selection for 18s are pretty good. Can get about any series from 35-55 in popular sizes.

The Bandits are painted & cleared, clean up pretty easy too. I wax them, makes them clean up even easier.

Think he's looking for a drag radial.
