Default M1 Concourse

M1 concourse is well underway, I read the 50 Million $ project already sold 130 condo units and 8,000 tons of asphalt already paved the track.
The eyesore of an old GM plant is now a future mega place for car people, I stopped the other day for a coffee at a little donut shop across the street, he's hoping for some business, he already had his parking lot re- paved to hopefully rent out his lot to some group. He supplies coffee and donuts for the M1, I spoke to one of the owners about donating a Trans Am hood for the restaurant wall art. Friday before dream Cruise they close Woodward down for legal Drag Racing rite on the Blvd, pretty cool, it really helped make Pontiac nicer in that area. Here's a few shots out the Coffee shop windows, you can see condos and the M1 Track

I was amazed at how fast the high dollar garages sold out.

Is this the site of the original 1926 Pontiac plant?

I can't remember what it was, there's another on Opdyke that went out too. Opdyke starts off Woodward up in Bloomfield, looking out attentive they are nowhere near done, but it's a great start. The area is sure goin to look nicer. Their first cars and coffee had like over 2,000 cars., I was down at 14 at Pasteiners so I didn't go. I,will check one out. Great coffee rite across the street, Coy the owner of the coffee shop was real friendly and loved all the Car traffic.

..."Eyesore of an old GM plant? "

The former facility on that site, the Truck Validation Center, was state of the art and only about 10 years old when torn down.

No. The passenger car facility was/ is between Baldwin and Joslyn north of Montcalm; this is Woodward and South Boulevard which is truck territory.

Ok - I'll concede that point (..."where a GM plant was").

My offices were there in the Centerpoint Campus until some GM executive decided that all engineering activities should be consolidated at the Tech Center in Warren.

I don't know why they were in such a hurry to tear down all those buildings after we vacated but they did it so fast that the area was unrecognizable.

I used to swap company vehicles at Bldg 32 there on South Blvd and actually got lost one time because the landscape had changed so dramatically.

Neat place. Just a bit too far of a drive for me or I would seriously have looked at it.

That's the design dome, which is a display area for the GM design studio.

Its good to see the development of the Pontiac/Woodward area. I wish they would do the same with Telegraph road, nothing has changed in 40 years instead of embracing the cruising culture they just try to run everyone off calling us trouble makers. We have broke cities that actually run people off that want to hang out and spend money.

All I'm saying is it's an eyesore and it's nice someone is doing this. I wonder if there doing the same thing in Mexico and other country's.

Cool information. They need a Hot Spot on Woodward near the M1.

Further up Woodward north, Right in the "Loop", turn right at Dixie Hwy, there's one about 5 miles up the road. on the way to the Pontiac Dustoff it's a good stop.

There's a new Diner at the Loop. I haven't tried it but it looks like a nice place. I'm thinkin it's the lot where the Woodward POCI group used to have at Dreamcruise. So nice to see new life in that area. I've been going to the Donut shop across from the M1 site. Good place. Avon Donuts.
