Default Didn't want to rush into anything

Figured it was time to join rather than just perusing the site. I have a '75 T/A that I purchased in April of '75 Second owner, as the first traded it in on a 427 vette. Wasn't fast enough according to the salesman Couldn't disagree. Nonetheless I picked it up and here we are almost 50 years later. Currently has 87k original miles. I did a mostly complete resto in 2012 and major engine upgrade this past year.. Originally an automatic non a/c 400 it now is a 462 stroker with a 5 spd Tremec , 4 whl discs and Vintage air. Other than KRE assembling my short block, I do all of my own work including paint and upholstery and it usually comes out ok lol. Lots of very knowledgable members here and I appreciate you sharing your expertise. Hand crank, pull starter, key switch, I'm good. Keyboard not so much

That's always been a favorite color combo for me plus the white interior, very nice!

Thanks Had to do something to cover up the typical GM fit and finish back then. I think they applied seam sealer with a snow shovel. Appreciate all the thumbs up.

Where did you find the "Engine Turned" material to cover the firewall?

As a young hotrodder I tried a hundred different ways to generate that finish but was never successful.

I hear you. I made my own panel back in 2012 when I did the resto.Usually I set a fence up on a drill press and chuck up 2" rol-loc and start the process of forming the circles, overlapping the edge of the rol-loc to the center of the previous one. the next row doing the same but alsothe center of the circle above. Because the aluminum panel is so wide I soon ran out of throat clearance on the drill press and finished it by hand with an air drill. Came out ok but not perfect. When I added the A/C last year I needed a new one to cover the blower cover. Googled "engine turned aluminum" and found a company called "FPM Metals"and ordered a panel to fit. They have various sizes and diameters to choose from.Impressed with their packaging as it arrived timely and in perfect condition.I went with a 2" diameter to match the fender braces I made earlier

Thanks Baron! That was the plan! I could have gotten the same 1/2" turning as the dash but because the firewall was so big I thought the bigger pattern would look better.
