Filled to the bottom of the water pump holes.... seems to work best for us. We've went lower, approximately to the bottom of the middle freeze plug but that didn't help as much keeping the bottom of the bores round.

Ahh cool. Mine is a '65 2xfreeze plug block, I filled to the bottom of those. I was surprised by how much filler went in because it wasn't far off the bottom of the front pump holes. Measured before/after the fill and my block must be possessed or something because no bores moved at all and the main tunnel didn't budge either. But it's good to know that the stock blocks with a bit of filler can be a good thing. Thanks Paul!

Pixs of main and rod journals on my Bryant crank . I am assuming the scoop on the main journal hole is on the leading edge in the direction of rotation to help oil entering the passage to rod bearing , correct ? Been looking into the main saddle groove along with crank journal chamfer .

It looks like they polished the whole thing. Pics of Molodex cranks don't look that good and they are known to be very tough.
Its a nice crank, I would be proud to have it.
Scat 4340 is going to have to be good enough for me. If KK can push 1400-1500HP thought one that plenty strong.
But if someone would make a fully counter weighted forging for 1500$ I bet they would sell.
If Ohio made some Pontiac billets for 2K they would sell some. 1600 gets you a Hemi Ohio billet.

Picked up my Scat crank today, nice piece.I just did a quick check on the dims, checked the snout, one main and one J and called a machinist and they are good. One thing I found out is they will do a custom forged cranks,a lot more than off the shelf but they bring in raw forgings.I also found out they do custom billet cranks.Their metal comes from either Canada or UK.Did not ask price but they did say its about 14 week lead time.FWIW,Tom

Thanks Tom.
Back when I talked to Molnar he was clear that the foundry he uses wasn't USA. It was clear it was a different foundry than SG, RPM, Eagle, etc.

Hmmm ...
Dragncar, did he ever mention China or did we assume???

IMO If Scat or Molnar get the QC level they demand it shouldn't matter.

Their raw forgings are offshore for their custom forged cranks.Their billet material is not China, its from Canada or UK for custom billets. He told me if I wanted a custom forged 4in stroke 3in main crank with a pontiac J it would have to be custom as all their entry level forged cranks use a BBC J.Tom
