Kurt,
That looks great.
How much of a pain-in-the-azz was it to actually remove the dash completely?

Thanks Guys!
Actually it was pretty much a cake walk. I followed the steps laid out on this forum to the letter....when it was all said and done, there it was on my work bench.
A great idea...use the camera on your cell phone and shoot photos on the backside of the dash before removal. This will give you some idea of just where the wires need to be returned.
Then when you get it on the bench more photos! A photo is worth MORE than a 1000 words in this case!

WC,
Funny you ask about how much of a PITA it was to remove....I was installing it yesterday. Got it all done and was looking like I knew what the heck I was doing, when I looked over at the drivers side and what did I see?...the drivers side air vent tube!.....Oops! Time to take the dash out once again....Live and learn...I'll bet the look on my face when I saw that vent tube was priceless!...

One thing I've learned taking dashes and instrument panels out...Unscrew the speed-o cable from the transmission. It'll give you enough slack to pull the panel out further so you can get your hand back there to unscrew the cable from the speed-o gauge itself.

Yesterday I spent some time installing the tail "Pypes", tips, and some of the old interior along with her AR Torque Thrust D wheels...
She is going to a car show on Friday with her sister, "Babe Blu"...
I had forgotten just how nice she sounds with the "Pypes" 2 1/2" Race Pro Exhaust...

Nice stance! The TTs look awesome but I'm kinda biased on that.

This was the look I was after when I started this restoration some 19 months ago. Tell me how close I got to my dream of the "Tuxedo" Interior...

The first two photos are captures from the internet and the rest are of "Blu BiYu"..

I, personally, think she is pretty close....Love it when a plan comes together...

Kurt,
Your car looks better than the internet example. That was a great choice!

Default Chalmers Community Days Car Show

Got the opportunity to take both "Babe Blu" & "Blu BiYu" to our local Car Show on Saturday!..
We had a great time and the best part was that God gave us a beautiful day!
Second best was that the two cars had a bunch of lookers and questions! Love this part of it no matter how many times I told just what took place on the 71 LeMans Sport....
Clark Gick advised me the next step on her is to sand her down and get the "Blu" paint mixed....I'm ready for THAT!!

When installing the new carpet in the 71 I forgot to post a photo of the factory underlayment that I saved when removing all the original interior. This is where I found what was left of the build sheet....under the drivers side.

Ordered a new headliner from Ames Performance along with new sail panels. I ordered white perforated...
I did a lot of "YouTubing" on installing it. I was doing GREAT...Right up to the time I needed to stretch from back to front...OOPS....I thought maybe, just maybe I had it in backwards. So long story...short...I did not and it seems as though the factory cut it just a "WEE BIT" short...
Ames is now going over their documentation along with the photos I sent to see just what seems to be the Scoop...
I am sure they will get to the bottom of this and make it right!
We also at the same time went over the color of the "White"....seems as though it is closer to PUI's Pearl. I believe that is the color of interior I have chosen....
I love Life's Lessons....I learn so much from them and NOTHING of my successes...
..and my wife wonders why I am SOOO Smart...

After stretching it some on all sides...She surely is going to look GREAT!..

Uh oh, that's the one I have too, the REM one. You say it's a touch short from front to back? Like, it's less than an 2 inches of slack at either end? Can you explain better how it's short?

HWY,
I don't think it is as short as it is sewn in the wrong places. Ames is in the process now of calling REM to come up with a solution.
I have 8-10 inches left over at back glass and nothing...nada....at the front....

Kurt,
Have you entertained the idea of putting a sound sealer on the roof before the headliner goes on? Dynomax or similar?

HWY,
This is the end result. Ames contacted REM about this issue. Their first take was that I had it installed wrong (backwards). I advised them that was not the case as I tried all that nonsense before calling Ames.
So Jeremiah and I did some measuring on the actual bow locations vs actual measurements on the headliner itself.
I then suggested he take one off the shelf and measure the distances between the loops on that headliner.....They were different...even though the overall measurement was close to being the same.
My take is that REM did not cut it short, but put the loops in the wrong locations...
Measure yours on a table or floor and if you come up with what Ames had on theirs...your good to go...Remember, I needed at least 14-15 inches from the 1st bow to the Rear View Mirror to make it work..
They are sending me a new one.....
Hope this helps my friend!

Very helpful, thank you! I will measure this weekend, saves me from finding out when I actually pull the trigger and do the install.
