Default Joining the 10.5 club!!

I did not think it would happen this year, but had a great day at the track today with Darby, who kept pointing me in the right direction until I made the final round and had my best ET ever while finishing 2nd place!

Thank you Darby and others here on the forum for your assistance and advice!

My inspiration for this build came from members like TA Man, Firechicken, and of course Darby, who's 9.xx car sounds like grandma going to church on Sunday.

I get a kick out of running up against cars that look and sound like all-out drag machines, and silently crossing the line in front of them, or hanging right on their tail when heads up. When Darby and I run together, spectators can remove their earplugs and carry on a conversation! Several people were convinced I had a pro charger, as they could hear a little gear whine from the TH400 low gear set.

Here is a short clip... the slower car in the far lane sounds like a monster coming down the track, meanwhile you barely hear the Pontiac coming up from the rear. Good times

Very exciting to get that far into the 10s with your combo. How did you get the car so light?

Continental 10" "Jim Hand special".

Nothing too special regarding reduced car weight. Smith race craft control arms, 28lb lawn mower battery, a few rust holes in the rear qtrs, manual steering and disc brakes, aluminum front calipers and wilwood MC up front, ford explorer style disc brakes on the 9". Weld drag wheels. Otherwise full sheet metal and glass.

For the most recent runs I removed the passenger seat, back seat, and wiper motor. I will run it on the truck scale to get an accurate number and post. In addition, I am 160 lbs so that helps

Ran it over the truck scale "as run" at the track. Add my skinny 160LB butt to it and comes out to 3,320 lbs.
