Velocity Stack Air Cleaner Base, Anyone Try These? Dyno Video Inside
https://www.speedwaymotors.com/14-In...ly,425070.html
After losing power going from a 4" K&N with filter lid to a 3" Edelbrock with filter lid, I think this link above and the contents of this video below seem real. Anyone use one of these velocity bases, power, thoughts? I'm thinking there's a better idea if you mix only the filter lid with the velocity stack base but make the stack taller. Base above is 1.6" tall, they sell 1 and 2" spacers. Filter lid will allow air to only enter from the top to keep the turbulence low. Here's the air cleaner video that shows the effects of different air cleaners on a strong engine. Open TB was 5hp lower than the velocity stack. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x693421

I haven’t tried those. But I have tried a spacer under a flat base filter. The spacer does make a difference.

I run a K&N velocity stack. Very tall, either scoop or no hood. The first time I took my car to the strip years ago I had a crappy triangle air cleaner. Ran a 12.83. Pulled the hood and put the velocity stack on and ran a 12.09.

The fly eye Air Cleaner in the dyno video lost 71hp vs open air, you're seeing that very thing. The stack in the video made +1 over the open air and open air velocity stack made +5.
I think there's 10hp in my combo if I can get my buddy to make me a version of the stack base with a tapered funnel into a velocity stack with a filter lid so its not 100% open. A velocity base stack at 2.75" tall with the filter lid should be about 3" which is ideal for my car with the spacer on it.

Here is one designed by K&N. Ignore the fact it's dominator sized. It made a large improvement on the race engine it was originally used on. A little over 1 mph improvement over an open arrangement. This on a car that already had gone 156 in the 1/4. I've never quantified it on my car. It was just convenient and leftover and free. And easy to add the IAT sensor to. I say try it, it'll probably help
