Default Rescued another SE TA

These Trans Ams seem to find me. I got a 77 W72 SE out of Maine this winter, and today I found this 78 SE Auto in MA in a wrecking yard. It's numbers matching, runs damn good, and surprisingly not rusty. It needs lower quarters, but the floors, rails, and trunk are mint. The dash is crack free too!

It's definitely an early car. It has the Hurst hatches instead of the Fisher tops, and looks to have the shorter 77 style shaker. Best part was it came with a mint build sheet! I have never seen one in such good shape.

The car is pretty well loaded up, but oddly enough it has standard interior. They basically ordered every other option though.

I wonder why a car like that ended up in a wrecking yard.

These cars seem to end up in all sorts of weird places. The seller was definitely a car guy, and set this aside in a fenced in holding pen.

What's funny is this car and the 77 I picked up over the winter both have their pinstripes hand painted on. They must've looked awesome back in the day!

That’s an awesome score congratulations!!!

What do you plan to do with it?

Restore it to new, make it into a race car, or just buff for up a little?

I'll end up restoring it. Somebody crunched the driver fender pretty good, which did a number on the bumper. I have another fender and front bumper for it already, so that's pretty cool.

I'll grab some more pics of it today.

Some guys have all the luck, LOL. I dont even see parts cars in my area!
Odd about the shaker though, I thought the low ones were phased out mid year 77.

That's what I was thinking, but I don't know for sure. I'll compare it to my 77 shaker and see.

Grabbed some more pics. Also drug out the 77 while moving stuff around. The 78 has the wrong bird on it.

Job well done, on the rescue (AGAIN!!!)
The 78 has a bunch more performance options than my 77 has. Mine was obviously ordered for a "stock" TA unit.
I'll be glad when you can get that fender replaced, it hurts me to look at it, as is...

Carry On!!!

Just dug out a black 79 SE fender I had in storage. I think I'll swap them out sooner than later, as you're right, it's painful to look at lol

Wow, that's pretty cool that the dealer is still around!

It be pretty cool to make the trek out there when the car is done and vista it's old stomping grounds.

The building was erected in 1975. This photo appears to be around 8-10 years old, but generally looks the same. I believe a rental storage place operates it now, instead of it being a car dealership.
