I picked one up today and fondled it and it felt pretty dang good.
It was the brand new 3 inch version.

Have any of you ever owned one and/or shot one and what are your thoughts?

I have a huge surplus of 38 special ammo and I need something to shoot it so I’m considering getting one.

I love it. Of course anything I buy my son immediately appropriates. He has a couple buddies and they love to go shooting. I checked a local store and they're out of stock in all lengths. Not cheap around here either.

Just picked up a 4-1/4”. Built like a tank. Trigger is great in single or double action. Buy one if you are lucky enough to see one. Local Sportsman's Warehouse say they will be getting an Anaconda anytime now.

I’m excited about it because it’ll shoot 357 Magnum and some .38 special rounds.

Anaconda looks pretty mean!

I have a Smith & Wesson Performance Center model 629 and the barrel is 2.625 inches.
It looks beautiful it’s just not very fun to shoot.
Everything works really smooth on it though.

I know what you mean about the short barrel not being so fun to shoot, at least not if you’re going through a whole box of ammo. The .44 can get obnoxious.

My next CC purchase, still looking at shows for a good condition used. I had one in my hand at a local show a few months back, but the seller was asking almost MSRP of a NEW one!

I have the 6” barrel version. They are great guns. Fits right in with my s&w’s.

Short barrel is a belly gun. If you're target shooting, get a 6" min. I have a Dan Wesson .357. with 6" standard barrel. It was my Dad's. Best shooting gun I've ever shot. Pythons are beautiful guns though. Interestingly, I shoot better groups with .357's than .38 specials. Guns like certain rounds. It can be dramatic.

Nice piece, I really like the Factory grips. I need a set for a 15-2 VH.

Colt pythons are nice. I also have a nice dan wesson .357 with a few different barrel lengths.

Going to buy a revolver, for a snake shot gun. With transitioning to New Mexico over next year or so, will be spending more time in rattler country. Thinking 357, so following this thread. Been an auto person my whole life, but have had a S&W Model 629 before, so like that brand, but Colt is definite option.

Don't discount Ruger as an option. They make some nice revolvers as well.

You are right! I have always liked Ruger, have their 380 mini auto, and on my third 10/22.

I currently have a S&W 629 "Mountain Gun" with 4" barrel. A real "bear" to handle with 320 grain Buffalo bore rounds! That said it just sits these days (unless I'm going where the bears are) .
