Default someone tying to log into your account?

I got a e-mail this mourning from a grand prix forum for newer fwd's that I don't go on to very often saying someone tried to log into my account, and it gave me there IP address, is there anyway I can report this or track down the bastards?

I have never had any problem with anyone trying to hack into anything of mine before

Here is a copy of the e-mail I got:
Dear racer81x,

Someone has tried to log into your account on Pontiac Grand Prix Forums : Grandprix with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 183.207.228.22

All the best,
Pontiac Grand Prix Forums : Grandprix

So if anyone wants to mess with this asshole, his IP address is listed above.

It might also be a hoax to get your info so they can hack into your account. Best to get ahold of the admin or moderators and see if they actually sent the email, and what you should do.

Sometimes changing your password will help keep you account "safer".

Does the forum email look legit? Could be a hacker sending you this "alert" too. This crap is getting out of hand. I am getting junk email lately from my own (seemingly) email address. They are able to clone the appearance of our email addresses. This has been an issue for some time at work too. I don't know why the whole damn system can't detect fake email address names and quarantine them.

Tree'd by Gary I see!

I'm getting an email from my cousin that lives in Western NY with a Uk.com address. I emailed her as to what was going on, but so far no reply that it's legit. So I turned it in today that her email has been hacked and it's a phishing scam.

There are programs hackers use that will try multiple passwords on each username. I wish the host would show you what passwords they tried. Should be able to tell you if they know much.

Thanks for the info.

Funny thing is I haven't even been on that website since last summer or early fall, don't know how the hell they got on there, unless they hacked the site and sent that same message out to neumorus members.

Hackers do it because they can, and because they're bored doing anything else. If they can't, they keep on trying until they do. China and Russia have most of the worlds hackers, and they do it just for the fun of it. Tho many also do the virus and trojan thing just to mess up the internet and computers.

Wow! I would expect the Chinese to be hacking into Buick sites.
