Default 67 GTO radio delete plate

Was the 67 GTO radio delete plate the black pebble finish cast aluminum pice or was it flat sheetmetal(?) with a wood grain overlay, like the dash? Does anyone have any pics of a GTO's dash originally ordered with the delete option? I know the heater delete cars for 67 had a wood grain finish; the very few built. Thank you

IIRC The '67 "GTO" utilized a flat wood-gained vinyl veneered panel/plate.

I special ordered my new '67 GTO in April without a radio. It came with an aluminum pebble finish plate covering the radio opening. It was painted blue to match my blue interior. I still have the plate. I worked at Kole Pontiac in Oak Lawn, IL. in the Summer of '67 I never saw a wood grained plate.

Thank you for the replies. I've seen one flat woodgrained one and numerous of the cast pebble finish ones. Possibly they ran out of the wood grain ones and painted a Tempest/LeMans plate interior color instead? Just hypothesizing of course.

Default Interesting...

I've seen and sold the black textured plates, and always list them as 66-67.
But have never seen a plate painted anything other then matte/flat black,
so the one above painted interior color seems odd? Possibly a last minute dealer swap?

I have also seen more then once on '67s a flat vinyl covered plate.
The fit and finish on this plate looked very much factory.
Regrettably recorded no #. Anyone else ever run across this design?

67 MPC says 66 delete is 9782742, 67 delete is 9777675. How they got a later year with an earlier year number will remain a mystery. Even more interesting is 68 had a number for the pebble finish and another number for wood grained.

Very similar but the Heater delete plate/cover utilized four corner pins/nuts unlike the Radio plate/cover that uses only the two.
