Anyone use the 2 piece brass air hose ends?
I have a 3/8" id x 11/16" od air hose with a bad end and bought the fitting to put on the end but the outer part just slides on and does not screw onto the outer part of the hose! Is this the way its supposed to fit? The inner part will expand the hose so that it presses the hose outward and makes contact but I'm not sure its secure enough! The other fittings like this that I've used have fit the outer part of the hose tightly! The fitting I bought is a (Dixon BN32RU68 Brass Reusable Fitting) Do i need to get one for a hose with a smaller od? Thanks

The outer sleeve should slide over the hose with minimal effort. As you screw in the knurled part (into the inside of the hose) it should expand the hose and push it out tightly against the inside of the sleeve.
I have used similar fittings on hoses with a pressure fed spray gun (and 2.5 gal. paint pot). Depending on the construction of the hose (how may plys, materials it's made of, etc) you might need to try a couple of fittings until you find the right one that works with your hose.

The outer part slides on without any pressure at all. I thought that it might need to use the threads inside the outer piece for some grip! I know the inner part will expand the hose but wasn't sure if this was a correct fit! I'm not sure if the next smaller size will fit! That would be going from 11/16" od to 5/8" od. fitting.

I've tried a couple of those in the past and they always worked loose. For $7 I have a hydraulic hose business crimp new ends on. I have 14 air hoses to maintain.
