Default Quadrajet assy. question

Hey all, slowly working on the GP. Rebuilding a carb I got from Cliff's, carb came to me taken apart already, figured where most of the parts go except this small linkage/bracket. Any idea?

Also, should there be a spring between the ball and retainer screw on the accelerator pump check ball?

No spring with the check ball and retaining screw.

That other linkage piece goes on the side of the carb, with all the choke stuff. It pivots on a small post and prevents the secondaries from opening when the choke is on. When the choke heats up, a lever pushes on the tail end of that linkage and moves it over enough for the secondaries to open. You will notice a steel pin coming out of the secondary shaft that is flat on the end. That end fits into the notch in the long end of the linkage you have pictured.

I think I got it. I cut the pin instead of pushing it out of the throttle shaft thinking I could just use a roll pin, I guess the lenght was important I'm gonna have to make a new one

The green lever needs to go on the other side of the linkage you pictured. The notch end of the linkage needs to be down, under the throttle shaft and under the pin.

No real need to reinstall the secondary throttle blade lockout lever.
Just keep out of heavy throttle three minutes after "start" until engine is warm.

Thanks PY. I might be able to complete assembly of this carb when I get home from work. That was pretty challenging, like a big puzzle! Wonder how many parts are in there total, 100-150?

I'm pretty confident the engine will run with this carb, have to wait till spring to find out...

Mine went into the trash after loosing an easy race to a 396 Chevelle in the late 60's. Engine was warm enough, but the lever didn't think so. Still almost had him just on just the primaries.

Yeah, just don't put your foot into it until it warms up. That's all it's there for.
