Power Steering pump puking
So In my saga to get this car back on the road, my last step may be getting the power steering pump working.
I filled it up and turned it lock to lock sever times not running and get no bubbles at all. I started the engine and the reservoir went dry right away. So I topped it off and its immediately foamy. I do some more lock to lock turns and the level doesn't really change and still foamy. Then I shut it off and it pukes out all over. Its done this same thing now twice. This is an AGR pump with very few miles on it. It worked fine before but has been sitting for 6 years. Is it possible its gone bad? Am I bleeding it out wrong? |

Get the front of the car on jackstands so the front wheels are off the ground, belt hooked up, cap off, and turn the wheel back and forth with the car running.
Side note: I had an issue with my old pump popping the cap off or vibrating loose and leaks when I revved it hard while using a vented cap. I put on a new Lares pump with a non vented cap and all is bueno. Good luck

Thanks for the service manual shot. I did just that for priming. I think it just took a few cycles. It foamed up like crazy with the air in there.. I had the revivor filled almost to the top. I started it up and all the fluid got sucked right in. It all went milky and when I shut it off it puked all over. I let it cool and tried again. I got the hot level corrected. Let it cool down again and then did a test drive. I check the level after the drive and it looked good and not milky. You got a pic with your Lares pump? |

I'll try to get pics later today. Fluid should not be milky and it shouldn't puke, either. When my cap was coming off I'd get home from a drive w no cap and it wasn't that messy believe it or not.

1 PS Pump out of many would puke after a 1/4 mile run or even some street use. Never figured what it was. Tore some down and put the best looking used parts together, used the highest PSI reg and it was very good.
Just maybe PSI is too low? |

I had a similar situation with my 62, it went dry, got airrated and then when I topped it off it was full of foam.
I let it sit overnight, top it off, then went lock to lock with the engine off a bunch. Like 30 times. After that it was fine. If you get the fluid all foamy, you are kinda done for a while until it settles down.
