Thumbs up Its true! Keefer sighted at track

Ken was seen on the track today. Rumors of him racing in 2008 are confirmed. He put vacuum pump on and picked up .05 from last weeks best run in similar conditions. Went 6.44. We took belt off and gonna try tomorrow. BTW... I'm posting under my parents screenname. Jim Zeek

Are the two "big" Chevies naturally aspirated? I know the rest of the field (besides Ken) isn't.

Look at the MPH for most. Very high...I agree with the stop thing.

Yes, smart ass...a 454 and a 468 Chevy are "big blocks", not "small blocks", hence my phrase "big Chevies".

108 and 111 MPH is not what I would call "on the stops" (don't think throttle stops are allowed, did you mean brakes at the finish? That's what I think you mean). If they were on the brakes the MPH would be much lower with the E.T. closer to 6.50...that is unless they're capable of running 6-flat and were REALLY on the brakes...me thinks not likely. I didn't look at their MPH before, but now that I am, I'm tending to think they may not be natutally aspirated at all. Discomobile would run 6.50 on a 200 shot at 105-106 with mid 1.4's 60 foots for comparison. That was 467 cubes with 250-cfm d-ports and 3840 lbs. race weight.

It was cold here today...

Jim, I had baseball tonight, but should see you tomorrow. How did the surprise go?

I wish I had one of those "Ken's Speed and Machine" low 10 sec pump gas street crate motors... Nasty plug, shame on me...

i really dont know anyone who considers a 468 or 454 "big". "big" chevies are generally over 598". im just reading it off the sheet like i see it. calling me a smart ass hurts my feelings- not! i prefer not cocky just better or not better just cocky. either or. doesnt matter. who cares really about that anyhow. car count sucks. dr again looks like the best class again. hit the dr boards and the talk is flying. good luck to ken.

There was a good dozen local cars that are boycotting this event, and the series at Sunshine. If they would have shown up 6.50 would have been a show!

No, because they changed the rules to fit one racer in the group. And BMP adopted those rules for this event. Immokalee is now the Official 6.50 track in Florida, by the real racers.

Politics in racing sux....
From seeing how some of these (local) cars handle running just the 1/8 I assume they run the 1/8 for safety reasons..
But the real hairy ones are the OPS 5 second cars...on small tires !!!
Question...are these IHRA or NHRA tracks....
Give me a brake...I'm a Yankee..
