I have put 36/38/40 pills to a factory block.

I have put 120 plate pills to a factory block.

No failures.

I have used 428/455 and 400 blocks. Recommend using a properly checked and modified 400 blcok for nitrous use.

How much will it cost to replace the car when you drive over the crank at 140mph?

PDUDE- what do those pills=in HP?

Sorry, i dont understand the relationship between pills and the advertised HP of the kit.

Bill is assuming it would let go before it gets to the finish line...which they usually do.

I go roughly by the manufactures listed hp to start but fine tune from there. HP can vary depending on cu.in and your combo with the same pills.

You can run a plate square or more nitrous then fuel and bump the pressure to atomize a little better.

Same deal with a fogger.
Ya start somewhere on the low side, jet wise, to get a grip on what your nitrous system tune up likes.

Remember, nitrous doesn't make the hp. The fuel does.

That's why 1/8th mile racing is taking over in the South. Less carnage. That high gear pull is a bit*ch. LOL.

''I have put 36/38/40 pills to a factory block.

I have put 120 plate pills to a factory block.''

So the first statement is a fogger and the second a plate system? That would make sense.

~300hp plate?

Biltit, there is a lot more to it than just the jet size.

Once you get into custom tunes with different bottle and fuel pressures the factory listed HP numbers are out the window. Its all about flow rates and distribution.

Ya, starting to see that. Just easier for me to keep everything straight in my head as a reference.

GOOD LUCK
Go For it.... everyone here is doom and gloom, can you post the carnage pics after?
I have always thought it was cool to see a motor come apart.... as long as it isnt mine.

How many people on this board have destroyed a block with too much nitrous? Not too many I bet. And if they did destroy a stock Pontiac block, what caused the failure, improperly tuned, not watching your plugs? I think it would be quite difficult to destroy a stock Pontiac block.

Come on Dude, you sound like a politician. Never really answered the question. Give us an estimate on the hp made with the jet sizes you listed. Is it anywhere near the amount this guy is wanting to spray?

I'm guessing by the question he asked that he knows enough about nitrous to be dangerous. It will take careful tuning at that level to get it done without hurting parts, especially with a stock block.

Now I have to ask. What other parts are in the plans to go with the stock block? Rods, pistons, crank, main caps, crankshaft? If these are also going to be stock or stock replacement type parts I would say it probably won't make a full pass. If these parts are good aftermarket parts that are up to the task of hp level you are planning to make with good machine work, it will live for a while but I wouldn't spray it too many times with that much juice. You would be living on the edge. The block would definatley be the weak link. Either that or the tranny, convertor, or rear end if you can put all that power to the ground.

They have, and will crack from the mains to the cam tunnel.
If it's mild you'll lose oil pressure and take out a bearing. If its bad you'll drive over your crank. Most are mild, and most people don't investigate far enough to know the real reason why it failed.

Never mind the block, how do you plan on getting all that nitrous HP to the ground and make it stick?

What chassis and how much have you sprayed through your car already?

How fast is fast for your chevy buddies?

lil jack asks the correct question..how fast do ya really want to go?..what car?..what type of suspension?..p-dude can run solid 8's on "stock" leafs, and so can i..with a 7531 box, 7's are possible..if ya wanna beat your buddy in a match race, get a 7531 box and sucker him into a small tire race..we all need more info on your ride, and your opponents..

as far as motor..if ya have not built any of it..go with aluminum rods, a forged crank, a good 400 block, and cv-1 heads..they will soak up nitrous like a sponge and can run with most "good" rat motors..if your boy is running a small block, he's done for..

either way, the bottom line is money..IF YOU HAVE TO ASK THESE QUESTIONS, YOU ARE NOT READY FOR THIS LEVEL OF COMPETITION!!!...but we all would like to see you kick some buttocks with a yak..

I know nothing about using nitrous. My rotating assy. consist of eagle crank, eagle rods(6.8 or 6.625),ross pistons(455 or 428) and total seal rings. The car is a 74 ventura full interior with caltracs w/split mono-leaf springs,3.73 gear,28/10.5/15,ce 3-way adj.up front and rancho 9 way adjustables on the rear.Honestly this "economic downturn" is prohibiting me from buying the ia2s and the cv-1s right now.By the way what is a 7531?Fast for these guys in street trim is 5.50-5.80 but this particular fellow thinks since i have a pontiac i can't compete with him.Best to date for him is a 6.60 these are 1/8 mile times.I need to go at least 3 tenths faster than him just in case.I sprayed 150hp out the hole and it had a 1.51 short time so i'm planning on using a timer on the second kit or just use one kit and a controller to help get going.Hope this helps.
