Default Fuel tank

Can anyone tell me why my 71 GTO gas gage will not reach full. Mine will only go to 3/4 of a tank, and it is a new sending unit.

I had the exact same problem with a replacement sending unit in my 72, always read a quarter tank less than what was actually in the tank. Replaced with an NOS one and it reads correctly now. You can get the original repaired if you still have it.

Thank you. I was afraid of that, but I don't have the original one anymore.

When I installed my new sending unit into my new tank, I found testing my sender arm sweep was restricted by baffles in the tank. I ordered a different brand sender and it worked as it should. Make sure this isn't your issue.
