Is there a correct VIN # I should be looking for in a 1965 GTO? thanks

No, the VIN will never identify whether or not it is a true GTO.
1964 and 1965 GTOs as well as 1972 GTOs are this way, no way to tell for sure with PHS paperwork. Not sure about the '73 and '74 GTOs. Starting in 1966 and ending after 1971 the GTO had its own specific VIN that ID'd it as a GTO.

B man meant to say "no way to tell for sure without the PHS paperwork."
There are lots of clues but you gotta PHS it to really know. K
