The pics of LSM lightened blocks I have seen were kind of scary with how much and where they took out the iron.
Chris in the article referred to a scarcity of blocks at the time.

Ya that's why i was hoping for some details. Im guessing your right, they pushed the bore limits.

I'd be surprised...I think Chris would take ring seal over bore size.

He was also witness to Mike Leech adding stroke to increase power without losing available RPM.

Just a guess though.

The oil used likely has the viscosity of water.
