Form an E-85 compatible Intake gasket with the right stuff 90 minute?
Hey Guys,
Even after milling the intake manifold .050 on each side - I still have an .100 - .125 intake port mismatch (Top of Port) from heavily milled heads and decked block – with the intake manifold being too high. Motor is running and assembled without intake on. Can I use "the right stuff 90 minute" formula to form an E-85 compatible gasket? Thanks, Craig |

I guess you can if you want to chance have it get sucked through your engine.Tom

Loctite 518 is a great sealant for metal to metal flanges. Check the data sheet on it for ethanol compatibility. Warning: VERY hard to separate manually. Find a couple of places to drill and tap for a jackbolt on each side.

Many times after milling and decking these amounts and after milling the Intake also it will still not seat down to the head because it's now sitting on the valley cover.
Sometimes you can just run the valley cover without the gasket but sealed up with form-a-gasket and sometimes you need to also grind off some of the bottom of the Intake Manifold. Since it sounds like you have the motor in the car this can interference be hard to detect, but if you lay some clay on the valley pan and set the Intake on and then remove it you will see the interference condition right away.

Buy whatever thickness you need rolled gasket material at Napa or other and make your own

I would not use the Right Stuff for anything, will require a jack hammer to remove. I would layer gaskets to make up the space if possible

Sounds like he's saying he can't fit any gasket due to port height. Garlock offers 1/64" gasket material if you're able to stand that much mismatch. Just fyi

Thanks guys for all your help.
Looks like the best thing to do would be researching availability of milling the intake again. We'll see how that goes. Hope all is able to go racing soon and good luck. Thanks again, Craig |
