here's photo from last summer, me wearing favorite t-shirt, but I'd have to say the one song that defined high school for me was Supertramp - Dreamer (grad Carson Graham class of '77)

Take my earlier post and split into:

Front Seat Driving
Back Seat parking

That should make YOUR memories clear.

The best one for me has to be Van Halen "Summer Nights" from 5150. I remember blasting that album in mt 76 Cutlass all summer long.

In looking over this thread I see I am at the "old age" end....having grown up outside of Phladelphia which was the hot bed of early rock and roll....American bandstand and the doo wop sound...

I was at the rite age when John Buc Wilkin did GTO back in 1964 since I graduated in 1965.

I remember when the Beatles hit our shores....I was one of the few kids that had a car and had it worked out to skip school that day to go to Philly and get tickets...planned to get there around 5 am and even then it was too late.

In my day I got see some of the greats in concert Chuck Berry, Fats Domino....Beach Boys, to name a few.

Now almost every week some artist or writer from that time period has died....Jean Dinning just died wrote Teen Angel....song by her brother....week earlier Preston died who did Running Bear.

While everyone has their favorite songs from the past the one really great thing is no matter what song(s) ring your bell or jolt your memory thank goodness for the invention of sirus/xm radio....a clever idea that I am sure most of us embrace. Now if only TV would eliminate commercials!

denniskirban@yahoo.com

On a side note years ago I bought a 1965 GTO from Tracy Evans....brother of Chubby Checker (real name is Sam Evans) ...also bought a car from a cousin of Johnny Mastro.....of the Crests...

So, chances are somebody out there in the GTO world is driving a 1965 GTO convertible tri-power four speed blue with a black gut and it may be that car. Car was very nice when I sold it back in the early 1980s.

According to your profile, you aren't yet retired, though?

Didn't think I'd be the first, but Skynyrd was big back in the day for me. Allmans, Marshall Tucker, Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, Atlanta Rythm Section, Floyd, Rush, ZZ Top, Foghat, Nazareth, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush. Tons more, but Skynyrd was definitely THE Band back in the day. So much that my High School had a moment of silence when news of the plane crash hit. Sad day. Still love me some Skynyrd...

Great list! Mahogany Rush was big outside IL? There were some good bar bands around. Off Broadway, Boyz from ILz, Hounds, and Mahogany Rush opened B'ginnings too. Good time to sneek in a bar or two. Drinking age was 19...
