Tony DeFeo was thrown out of school at 16 for stealing a bus. He went on to start a career as an auto mechanic and, on a whim, entered the field of automotive journalism, writing for Cars Illustrated magazine. Tony founded High Performance Mopar, and then launched Mopar Action a year later just to compete with his first book. Waaaaay back in the day (1985ish?) a literary genius named Tony DeFeo worked for such publications as "Cars Illustrated" and "High Performance Mopar." That guy wrote some fantastic stuff on street racing in the northeast United States.

He invented blue collar no B.S. "journalism".I had many, many occasions to laugh out loud while reading Tony's articles on street racers, nitro freaks and back yard tech. What an unrecognized icon. He totally grasped the concept of doing what we do, in a never condescending sort of way.

Looks like the original owner ran the sh++ out of that poor car and parked it.

In the article they said they wanted to preserve the African stickers on the fenders. First thing I would have done is scrape them off.

X2. Article mentions valvetrain damage, sludge buildup suggests oil changes were infrequent at best. After the new owner shelled out more than a million bucks, this car should be able to stand on it's own merit. Nope. The son (who fabricated this "legend") is retained as a consultant, LOL. They're going to preserve the *Africa stickers, while also pretending his father never towed motorcycles with it?!? Right... And where did they find a mint 70 Challenger that could donate it's original carpet??

*Africa doesn't have a flag. This tricolor represents Black Nationalism.

Big hoax that got hook line and sinker from publicists and marketers.
Full opinion would probably bump this into the club house.

Car was actually worth about 1/8 that much.
Crocodile roof was a cool feature , some Mopar extremists are overly fond of the various goofy roofs.
But not to that depth.

Car is obviously in the right hands now.
