Default 1961 SD lower starter cable routing

I am putting long branch manifolds on my 61 Cat wagon with a factory stick shift and would like to make it look SD correct. Anybody have a pic or know how the factory routed the lower starter cable? It is 32" long- quite a bit longer than the original one to the car. Thanks

Installation of the manifolds, linkage, small starter and such was no problem. Just wondering how the factory routed the battery cable to the starter from the fender mounted block. Thanks

Are you talking about the actual super duty manifolds, or the long branch manifolds used on 425A engines? If it's the latter, I can go out to the garage and check my car.

I installed the repop long branches from RA restorations, not the actual original manifolds. Really doesnt matter to me which one as I am looking for any info as to how the cables were routed. The factory cable lengths are 20" for non SD and 32" for SD. Big difference which translates to way different routing. There arent any pics or otherwise in my factory manuals.

Their long branch reproductions aren't the same as the 1961 425A manifolds (I think they were originally used on GTOs or Firebirds?) but the one on that side of the engine is fairly similar. On my car the manifold goes low enough that there's a straight shot to the starter from the horn relay, so the cable is more or less straight between the two points. It's the 20" length version.

You have to remember the SDs used a upside down starter so the cable was longer.Tom

Good point, if 1lms is using the upside down starter it's a longer distance to the terminal on the starter.

The upside down starter would explain some of the extra length but 12"?
I am running a small gear reduction starter on mine. A 20" cable is short by about 6-8".
