I'm glad the forum says "no question too basic," so don't throw vegetables at me. : ) I noticed the intake horn on some air cleaners is very small in cross section especially when compared to the size of the exhaust system which can be two 2"-3" pipes. Since you only have 14 psia pushing air into the hole, shouldn't the holes in the air cleaner be larger to minimize losses? I look at the grills on a '65 4bbl GTO air cleaner and it looks way too small.
