I've seen this stuff at auto parts stores called liquid steel. I've got a hole less than the size of a dime in my floor. Can I use this stuff to fill it in? Does it last? The hole is under the rear seat in a 69 GTO.

71,
The liquid steel stuff I've seen is just a silver-colored plastic filler and would probably fall out of that size hole eventually. If you just want to fill the hole, you could always glue a metal patch over it, using body seam sealer, the same way the factory plugged the other floor pan openings- just a thought.

I would do it right the first time and find someone with a MIG welder and weld her up. It shouldn't take too long sinc ethe damaged area is relatively small.

I would go ahead and use it. After you are done, you can undercoat the area. I used this stuff for a bunch of small holes like you describe. I can't argue that it is better than a welded repair. But I think it is good enough to last. A lot of patch panels are are being applied with adhesives nowadays, so go for it. One more thing: you are talking about the 2 part epoxy stuff that hardens like steel?

I've used the 2-part epoxy stuff on several small holes (sorry, can't recall the product name). It's easy to work with and dries hard as steel -- you can grind it, sand it, paint it, etc.

I can't verify longevity -- it's only been a few months since applied but seems to be holding up well.

has anyone used the por15 floor restoration kit. if so, give us some pointers from your expierence. i understand you can get an automotive adhesives from paint suppliers such as what is used to assemble vehicles that can be used to put in patch panels. very strong stuff.

I have used POR-15 products on the floor and trunk and all have worked very well. The product you need to use is the POR Patch. This stuff is very thick and hardens like a rock and bonds very well to the metal. I have use it on seams and to fill gaps in the metal floor pans. I The cost is $10.00 a tube and I would use the POR 15 paint to coat top and bottom of the flooring.
