Default Anyone use a Topside Creeper when working on their Pontiac ?

I've been contemplating building or buying one of these topside creepers. They are typically used when working on trucks, but some of the reviews are from folks who swear by them when working on classics. I don't like having yet another tool to move around my garage when I'm not using it, but that is a separate issue.

Saved backs, less chance of putting a scratch on fender. Anyone ever own one and can report back first hand experience ?

DIY wood: http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/...reeper-236211/

Nicest one I found, but can't find where to purchase yet: http://kreep-up.com/videophoto.html

Most popular one from Amazon:

Me Too. I emailed them also; Here is a good video on the Kreep-up. Doesn't look that hard to make one.

In the early 70's while I was in college we had one in the auto shop. I used it to remove and reinstall my distributor in my 355 H-0 1969 LeMans. It worked great. The long hood that does not nearly open up wide enough makes you crawl over the fan shroud and engine to get back there. That tool makes it easy.

My wife got me one for Christmas couple of years ago. Didn't think I would like it till I had to work on my 4x4 really saves on the back don't have to crawl inside the engine bay.

The one we had in college worked much better. It is apparent in the video that you still would have a hard time getting back to the distributor. The one we had was something that you laid down on to get back to the distributor. The one we had was very used so I don't know how old is was even for 1970. I think it would have been very useful on a 39 Cadillac V-16 and it looked so old to me it was probably made then.

Interesting in the video that said "I wondered when somebody would finally come up with this" Well I've got news for him they did SEVENTY years before and they made it better. His statement was simply the improvidence of youth.

Today I got this response from the CEO of Kreep-up, Dennis Podzimek;

"Thank you for contacting us, I really appreciate your inquiry into our product, unfortunately at this time, I do not have any to sell. I have sold out of my initial order of this product and due to slower than anticipated sales, I have not re-ordered so I do not have any available. I am working to try and make this product more mainstream, there is a definite need in the sector and I feel terrible turning anyone away. I will keep your email on file and if and when I receive more inventory, I will be happy to send you a note.
I checked out your site, nice cars! You are basically the person I invented this product for. Can I ask, do you want this to save your back or so you can work on the cars without touching them?
Thank you again, have a great day."

Sincerely,

Dennis Podzimek
CEO
